Suikerboschfontein, Carolina
Mar 20, 2022
Suikerboschfontein, (18 March, Glenn) is the first multi-day event of the year, a very popular venue last visited by us in 2018
In order to reserve your place you will need to:
Tell us which Sunday hikes or trails you have completed without difficulty.
Pay now, there are still places available. Check Upcoming hikes on our website frequently for details and changes.
We arrive at Rooikrans on Friday then hike 10km to Oom Japie on Saturday and then 10km to Rooikrans again on Sunday. At this point you may want to drive 3hrs home (the pot-holed part still in daylight) or stay the night and enjoy daywalks on Monday. This will affect the cost.
You need to arrange your own transport and food. The units are self-catering and only beds, mattresses and cooking facilities are provided. The bathrooms have flush toilets and warm water is provided by “donkey” fired boilers. Fire wood, cooking facilities, hiking sticks, candles and small gas stoves are also provided. Hikers must bring their own sleeping bags, food and drinks and a torch to light the way to the bathrooms at night. The trails with GREENFLAG accreditation are scientifically designed and expertly laid out to meet the needs of hikers and also conserve the area.
And so this is what you need to do:
email bookings@fagalavoet.co.za Specify nights 18, 19, 20 March for Suikerbosfontein starting at Rooikrans hut and whether you want slackpacking which may cost more. You may not want the third night. Mention that you are with Dayhikers or the Stacey group since they are holding 20 places for us for a just a short while. Then let me know (ggstacey@hotmail.com) two activities you have completed with Dayhikers and details of your booking with full names and cellphone numbers of all who have booked with you so I can include you all in the WhatsApp group to receive updates.
