We aim to provide a gay, lesbian and straight-friendly hiking environment for anyone and everyone to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in the company of like-minded friends.

Phaladingwe Hiking Trail


At Africaland we offer a beautiful hiking trail amongst the natural landscapes of the Pelindaba Wilderness, ranging in a distances of  9kms. The trail will take you on a journey through high mountain paths, open grassland, a forested riverine with natural fresh water springs and open grassland with incredible views of the Magaliesburg Ranges.

As you make your way along the trials you'll see the skyline of Johannesburg and Sandton from the peaks of the Magaliesburg Range. Wildlife to be seen include - Impala, Kudu, Nyala, Mountain Reedbuck, Eland, Bushbuck and Duiker among others. This is a brand new trail opened in the same nature area as the Phaladingwe Nature Reserve.

Good hiking shoes, hat, sun block, at least 2lt of water, snacks

Directions

From Johannesburg

  • Take the R512 going north from Randburg towards Lanseria
  • Turn right at the T-junction at Broederstroom.
  • At Pelindaba's Gate 1, turn right and park your car at the Preller House Restaurant.
